Installing a DC power supply unit for H615C and H610S nodes

You can install a DC power supply unit for your H615C and H610S chassis. H615C and H610S support two –48 V to –60 V DC power supply units. These units are available as optional add-ons when you order H615C or H610S. In this procedure, you remove the AC power supply units in the chassis and replace them with DC power supply units. You can also use these instructions to replace a failed DC power supply unit with a new DC unit.

Before you begin

About this task

In this procedure, you remove the AC power supply units in the chassis and replace it with DC power supply units. Attention: You cannot mix AC and DC power supply units in your installation. You must swap both AC units with DC units.

The following illustration shows the back of an H610S chassis with the two AC power supply units:

Steps

  1. Turn off the power supply units and unplug the power cords. If you are replacing a failed DC power supply unit, turn off the power source and remove all the cables inserted into the blue connector.
  2. Remove the power supply units.
The following illustration shows the removal steps for an AC power supply unit:
This illustration shows how to lift the cam handle and slide the power supply unit out of the chassis.
Note: The above illustration is only an example. The location of the power supply units in the chassis and the color of the release button vary depending on the type of chassis you have.
Attention: Ensure that you use both hands to support the weight of the power supply unit.

For a DC power supply unit, you will lift the cam handle and slide the power supply unit out.

  3. Using both hands, support and align the edges of the DC power supply unit with the opening in the chassis and gently push the DC power supply unit using the handle until the latch locks into place.
    CAUTION:
Do not use excessive force when sliding the power supply unit into the system. You can damage the connector.
  4. Close the handle.
  5. Cable the DC power supply units. Ensure that the power source is off while cabling the DC power supply unit and the power source.
    1. Insert the black, red, and green/yellow cables to the blue connectors.
    2. Insert the blue connector to the DC power supply units and the power source.

This illustration shows the connector with the cables being inserted into the DC power supply unit.
  6. Power on the DC power supply units.
Note: The power supply LEDs are lit when the DC power supply unit comes online. Green LED lights indicate that the power supply units are working correctly.
