Disabling User Account Control (UAC) in Windows 2008 R2

The UAC might cause the installation on Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 to fail. Disabling it resolves the issue.

About this task

If you do not disable it, the OnCommand Insight installation in Windows 2008 R2 can fail and show the following message: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected."
Note: This problem might relate to the installation of the OnCommand Insight Scrub utilities into your environment. See the "Scrubbing data for transfer to support" for more information about this feature.

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft Windows Control Panel > User Accounts.
  2. Turn "User Account Control" off.
  3. Uncheck "Use user account control (UAC) to help protect your computer."
  4. Reboot your computer.
  5. Install OnCommand Insight.
  6. After the installation is complete, enable UAC again.
