Scheduled backups fail due to task limit

Description

When SnapCenter is running scheduled jobs, the Windows scheduler returns an error and some scheduled data protection operations fail. This error occurs when the number of tasks reaches the maximum configured for the machine.

Error message

User Action: Reduce the number of tasks running in the specified user context.

Corrective action

  1. See the Microsoft support document Error 0x80041323 when running high number of Scheduled tasks https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/2696472.

    This document contains instructions on how to change the values configured for the registry keys.

  2. Set the values in the following registry keys to 1000.
    • TasksInMemoryQueue
    • TasksPerHighestPrivEngine
    • TasksPerLeastPrivEngine
  3. Reboot the machine.
