Removing a cache device

Depending on your deployment plan, client activity, and overall system performance, you might need to remove a NAS Bridge cache device. In general, if a cache device is not associated with a file system and not planned for a future file system, you should remove it.

Before you begin

The cache device must not be associated with any file systems.

Steps

  1. Click Configuration at the top of the web page.
  2. Click Cache Devices.
  3. Under Actions, click the delete icon This image is described by the surrounding text. for the cache device you want to remove.
    The cache device is removed from the NAS Bridge configuration. However, while the hard drive is no longer used by NAS Bridge, it is still associated with the NAS Bridge virtual machine.
  4. When you are done making changes, export the configuration file.
    1. Click Maintenance > Configuration Exports .
    2. Click Generate Export.
    3. Click the download icon to download the file to your local workstation.
    4. Save the configuration file to a safe location.
      You will need this file to recover the NAS Bridge configuration in case of a failure.
