Removing a power supply unit

To remove a failed power supply unit, disconnect the power cord, and slide the unit out of the chassis.

Before you begin

You have an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wristband, or you have taken other antistatic precautions.


  1. Locate the failed power supply unit.
    The LED on the failed unit displays amber.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the power supply unit.
  3. Remove the power supply unit as shown in the following illustration:

    This illustration shows how to lift the cam handle and slide the power supply unit out of the chassis.
    Note: The above illustration is only an example. The location of the power supply unit in the chassis and the color of the release button vary depending on the type of chassis you have.
    Attention: Ensure that you use both hands to support the weight of the power supply unit.
