When you enable the logical space reporting feature in ONTAP, System Manager displays the amount of logical used and available space in addition to the total space on a volume.
When used, logical space reporting shows the following columns to users in System Manager:
The Total column can be greater than the provisioned space on the volume; this discrepancy occurs because the Total column includes any block savings achieved through duplication, compression, and other space-saving capabilities.
The Logical Space Used (%) column can be greater than 100%, as afs-logical-used includes savings of the volume. The afs-logical-used space of a volume does not include snap spill as used space. The afs-physical-used space of a volume includes snap spill as used space.
Logical Space Reporting is disabled by default.
