Adding and registering additional clusters to the management node

You can add additional storage cluster assets and register them using the REST API of the management node. Beginning with the Element software 11.3 version of the management node, multiple clusters can be managed. After you add and register an initial cluster, you can use these APIs to expand cluster assets managed in your installation.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. Open the REST API UI on the management node: https://[management node IP]/mnode
  2. Click Authorize or any lock icon and complete the following:
    1. Enter the cluster user name and password.
    2. Enter the client ID as mnode-client if the value is not already populated.
    3. Copy the token URL string and paste it into another browser tab to initiate a token request.
    4. Click Authorize to begin a session.
  3. Click POST /assets/{asset_id}/storage-clusters
  4. Click Try it out.
  5. Enter the user name and password for the cluster admin, the IP address of the cluster, and additional optional configuration details.

  6. Enter the parent ID of the base asset in the asset_id field.
  7. Click Execute.
  8. Click POST /assets/{asset_id}/storage-clusters/{storage_id}/register
  9. Click Try it out.
  10. Enter the parent ID of the base asset in the asset_id field.
  11. Enter the storage ID from the asset you recently added in the storage_id field.
  12. Click Execute.
