You must complete the following steps to prepare your physical or virtual hosts for StorageGRID Webscale. Note that you can automate many or all of these steps using standard server configuration frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Steps
Installing Linux
You must install Ubuntu or Debian on all grid hosts. Use the NetApp Interoperability Matrix Tool to get a list of supported versions.
Configuring the host network
After completing the Linux installation on your hosts, you might need to perform some additional configuration to prepare a set of network interfaces on each host that are suitable for mapping into the StorageGRID Webscale nodes you will deploy later.
Installing Docker
The StorageGRID Webscale system runs on Ubuntu or Debian as a collection of Docker containers. Before you can install StorageGRID Webscale, you must install Docker.
