The recovery primary Admin Node must be configured as a replacement for the failed node, so that it can resume its role within the StorageGRID Webscale system.
Before you begin
- The primary Admin Node virtual machine must be deployed, powered on, and initialized.
- You must have the latest backup of the Recovery Package file (sgws-recovery-package-id-revision.zip).
Steps
- Open your web browser and navigate to https://primary_admin_node_ip.
- Click Recover a failed Primary Admin Node.
- Upload the most recent backup of the Recovery Package:
- Click Browse.
- Locate the most recent Recovery Package file for your StorageGRID Webscale system and click Open.
- Enter the provisioning passphrase.
- Click Start Recovery.
The recovery process begins. The Grid Management Interface might become unavailable for a few minutes as the required services start. When the recovery is complete, the login page is displayed.
- Determine if you need to install a hotfix installation. Check if the installed software version matches the version on the other grid nodes. Go to the page, and check the Version.
- If required, manually install the appropriate hotfix on the primary Admin Node. See the hotfix release notes for install instructions.
Note: Hotfixes must be applied manually to the primary Admin Node so they can automatically update on the grid.
