Deploying the virtual machine

You deploy the NAS Bridge virtual machine using VMware vSphere

Before you begin

You must already be familiar with VMware vSphere and ESXi, and have experience deploying virtual machines in this environment.

In addition, you must have prepared to deploy the NAS Bridge virtual machine as follows:

About this task

If you are deploying in an environment with DHCP enabled, and static IP networking properties are not set, an IP address is assigned to the virtual machine when it is started. Otherwise, you can assign a static IP address to the virtual machine during deployment.

  1. Access the VMware vSphere Web Client and sign in.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate location in the vCenter hierarchy and right-click to select Deploy OVF Template.
Normally you can navigate to Hosts and Clusters and deploy the template as a specific user or within a specific resource pool.
  3. Type the required information and select the options as appropriate for your environment.
Deploying the virtual machine is a multi-step process that includes selecting the source .ova file and the deployment destination. You can also enter a gateway, IP address, and netmask if you want to assign a static IP address to the virtual machine.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Power on the NAS Bridge virtual machine by selecting Power > Power On. Or select Start the virtual machine.
  6. If you are using DHCP, navigate to the summary tab for the virtual machine on the vCenter Client page and record the IP address.
You need the IP address to connect to the NAS Bridge node using a web browser.
