Using a storage pool as a temporary location

When you create an ILM rule with an object placement that includes a single storage pool, you can specify a second storage pool to use as a temporary location. Temporary locations have been deprecated due to the introduction of new ILM rule options for protecting objects at ingest.

Any existing ILM rules that use temporary pools will continue to operate as they have in the past. New rules should not use temporary pools.

Note: If you select the Strict option for Ingest Behavior for an ILM rule, the temporary location is not used. At ingest, StorageGRID attempts to make copies in the preferred location specified in the rule. Ingest fails if this location is unavailable.
