You might need to permanently remove grid nodes or an entire data center site from the StorageGRID system. To remove a grid node or a site, you must perform the decommission procedure.
Decommissioning grid nodes requires different steps than decommissioning a site:
You can perform a node decommission procedure to remove one or more nodes at one or more sites. The nodes you remove can be online and connected to the StorageGRID system, or they can be offline and disconnected.
You can perform a site decommission procedure to remove an entire site that has suffered a disaster and that can no longer be used. Any object data remaining at the site will become inaccessible.
Attention: Before performing the site decommission procedure, you must contact your NetApp account representative. NetApp will review your requirements before enabling the Decommission Site page.
Grid node decommissioning
You can use the node decommission procedure to remove one or more Storage Nodes, Gateway Nodes, or non-primary Admin Nodes at one or more sites. You cannot decommission the primary Admin Node or an Archive Node.
