Prepare AIX hosts for SnapMirror active sync protection on ASA r2 systems

Contributors netapp-aherbin

Beginning with ONTAP 9.19.1, Transparent Application Failover for AIX is supported with SnapMirror active sync in symmetric active/active configurations. SnapMirror active sync data protection enables business services to continue operating even through a complete site failure, supporting applications to fail over transparently using a secondary copy.

Before you can enable SnapMirror active sync for your AIX hosts running ONTAP 9.19.1 or later, the host access mode must be set to local. Selecting the access mode is not required for other host types. Learn more about interoperability for SnapMirror active sync.

Before you begin

You must be running ONTAP 9.19.1 or later. If you are running ONTAP 9.18.1 or earlier a Feature Policy Variance Request (FPVR) is required for AIX host support for SnapMirror active sync.

  1. In System Manager, select Storage.

  2. Hover over the name of the AIX storage unit you want to prepare for SnapMirror active sync protection.

  3. Select menu selection icon and then select Edit.

  4. Under Host information, select local for the Access mode, and then select Edit.
