Discover ONTAP systems and volumes without activation

You can discover systems and volumes either when you activate Backup and Recovery for the volumes, or before you activate NetApp Backup and Recovery. If you discover volumes without activation, you can't protect the volumes until you activate Backup and Recovery for them.

Steps

  1. Go to Protection > Backup and Recovery.

  2. Select the Volumes tile.

    The Volumes dashboard appears.

  3. Select Discover systems.

  4. In the list, select all systems whose volumes you want to discover.

  5. Select Discover.

  6. In NetApp Backup and Recovery, select Inventory.

    The discovery process begins. You can see the status and result of discovery in the Job Monitor.
