Copy, move, and delete files using NetApp Data Classification

Contributors netapp-ahibbard

In addition to providing insights about governance and savings opportunities, NetApp Data Classification also enables you to perform actions on files from its Investigation dashboard. After filtering data in the investigation dashboard, you can copy, move, and delete unstructured data. Performing these actions can improve compliance, for example, moving files to a more secure location, or create savings opportunities by deleting old or duplicate files.

Copy files

Data Classification supports copying files that are up to 1 GB in size. You can copy a total of 1 TB of data or 5 million files, whichever limit is reached first. You can copy files to a CIFS or NFS destination. There's no impact on the source file when you copy it.

Steps
  1. In the Investigation dashboard, select the files you want to copy.

  2. Above the list of files, select Copy.

  3. Select the protocol of the destination for the copies: NFS or CIFS.

  4. If you selected NFS, enter the destination path using forward slashes, for example hostname:/path/to/destination.

If you selected CIFS, enter the destination path using backslashes, for example \\server\share\path. Also enter the Username and Password credentials for the CIFS share.
