Activating support entitlement

NetApp Data Availability Services (NDAS) will automatically generate a NetApp Serial Number during the initial deployment of the application. This unique ID is a 20-digit numerical code beginning with a prefix of “970” followed by an additional 17 numbers and will be referenced by NetApp Support. This serial number represents the NetApp Data Availability Services subscription associated with the user’s AWS account. You must register the NetApp Serial Number to activate support entitlement. The user can choose from 2 options for support registration:

  1. Register as a current NetApp customer with existing NetApp Support Site (NSS) SSO account

  2. Register as a new NetApp customer with no existing NetApp Support Site (NSS) SSO account

Option 1: Registering as a current NetApp customer with existing NetApp Support Site (NSS) SSO account

Before you begin the registration process for NetApp Data Availability Services, you must collect information from within the NDAS app that will be needed to complete the registration process.

Steps
  1. From the app dashboard page, click gear icon (in the top right corner) to access Settings.

From the Support tile, copy the NetApp Serial Number (beginning with “970”), your AWS Account ID, and the AWS Instance ID. This information will be needed in a subsequent step.

  7. As a new NetApp customer, you also need to create a NetApp Support Site (NSS) user account for future support activations and for access to the support portal for technical support chat and web ticketing. Go to the NetApp Support Registration site to perform this task. You can provide your newly registered NetApp Data Availability Services serial number to expedite the process.

This is a one-time support registration for the applicable NetApp Data Availability Services Instance ID (serial number). Any new NetApp Data Availability Services subscription and subsequent new Instance ID number requires support activation as well. If you have any questions or problems with support registration, contact us at cvs-support@netapp.com.
