Here are some of the key new features and enhancements in VCF 9.1:

Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) for vSphere clusters, allowing for automated deployment and configuration of vSphere clusters.

Remember to include NFS VAAI plugin to image if you plan to utilize VAAI with ONTAP NFS datastores. NFS VAAI plugin can be downloaded from NetApp Support Site and added to the image used for vSphere cluster deployment.

UNMAP support for NFS 4.1 datastores, allowing for improved storage efficiency and space reclamation.

NVMe over RDMA support for improved storage performance and reduced latency.

Tools (pktcap-uw,rdmaperf-uw,rdmaperf) for packet analysis and troubleshooting RoCEv2 connections are now available with hypervisor.

Memory Tiering support includes support for all VM types and simplified deployment.

Expanded guest OS support, including Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, Debian 13 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 16.

vSphere Host Web Client updated to provide similar experience as vCenter Server Web Client, with full feature parity with previous versions.

Linked Clones of First Class Disks (FCD) for fast provisioning of container storage volumes in VMware Kubernetes Service (VKS).

Distributed Transit Gateway support VKS Supervisor and VCF Automation using Virtual Network Appliance (VNA). Layer 4 Load Balancer support is also available from VNA.

VPC Transit Gateway, Traceflow and live traffic analysis is now available from vSphere client.

VLAN extension for VPC subnets enables on-boarding of workloads from distributed vswitch port groups to VPC subnets.

Ability to define network span for Transit Gateway and VPC to be restricted to specific clusters or have them span across all the vCenter instances of the networking domain.
