You can get started using Novus by performing an NDD health check to ensure that your deployment is functioning correctly.

About this task

This task guides you through checking the health of your Novus Data Director (NDD) deployment to ensure that all components are functioning correctly.

Before you begin

You should have access to the NDD command-line interface including the needed permissions to run the mds-admin command. Also review Learn how to use NDD.

Steps

  1. Check the overall health:

    mds-admin status

  2. Confirm that all MDS nodes are reachable:

    mds-admin cluster status

  3. List the ONTAP data servers:

    mds-admin ds list

  4. Display capacity of the data servers:

    mds-admin ds capacity show

  5. Run a health check:

    timeout 60 mds-admin doctor

  6. Locate where a file's data is stored:

    mds-admin file locate <path>
