Learn about ONTAP alerts

Contributors amgrissino

View issues or potential risks in your NetApp on-premises ONTAP systems using the NetApp Console. You can drill into details using ONTAP System Manager.

NetApp Console

View ONTAP alerts in the NetApp Console.

The NetApp Console provides centralized management of NetApp storage and data services across on-premises and cloud environments at enterprise grade. The Console is required to access and use NetApp data services. As a management interface, it enables you to manage many storage resources from one interface. Console administrators can control access to storage and services for all systems within the enterprise.

You don’t need a license or subscription to start using the NetApp Console and you only incur charges when you need to deploy Console agents in your cloud to ensure connectivity to your storage systems or NetApp data services. However, some NetApp data services accessible from the Console are licensed or subscription-based.

What you can do with ONTAP alerts

View ONTAP alerts to stay informed about risks or potential risk in your ONTAP storage system. You can see some non-EMS alerts and some EMS alerts. You can see information about these severities and impact areas:

  • Severities: Critical, Warning, Informational

  • Impact areas: Capacity, Performance, Protection, Availability, Security, Configuration

Tip The Notifications option in the upper right of the NetApp Console UI monitors the status of operations that NetApp Console is performing to help you identify issues that you need to address. You can have these notifications sent to your email. The Notifications option does not include the alerts from ONTAP alerts.

Benefits of monitoring ONTAP alerts

Monitoring ONTAP alerts provides the following benefits:

  • Get alerts about your ONTAP storage across clusters.

  • View alerts in the same NetApp Console UI that you use for other services.

  • Drill into alerts on ONTAP clusters — start from the NetApp Console and see details in ONTAP System Manager.

Cost

You can view ONTAP alerts with a NetApp ONTAP license.

Licensing
