Use custom dashboards in NetApp Console local deployment to create focused monitoring views for specific teams, fleets, workloads, and operational goals. Custom dashboards complement the Home page dashboard by adding targeted visibility to broad, always-available monitoring.
How dashboard types work together
- Home page dashboard

Ready-to-use monitoring panes for capacity, alerts, performance capacity, licenses, and data protection status. Views are preconfigured and update automatically.

Role-specific monitoring views built from predefined cards, including selectable scope, metrics, target resources, and time windows.
Use both together:
* Start on the Home page for daily baseline monitoring.
* Use custom dashboards for focused investigation by team, fleet, workload, or operational question.
You can add one custom dashboard to the Home page at a time.
Understand custom dashboards
A custom dashboard is a saved collection of cards that you arrange on a grid. Each card is based on a predefined card template with a metric and chart type. When you add a card, you configure the scope, target objects, aggregation, and time window.
Custom dashboards and cards are private to you. Each card shows data only for the storage resources you are authorized to view.
You can remove the custom dashboard from your Home page and add a different one as monitoring priorities change.
Monitor what matters
Card templates are organized by metric type so you can focus a dashboard on a specific operational area. For example, use capacity cards to watch a volume that is growing faster than expected, or use alert cards to track repeated failures on a busy cluster:
- Performance

Latency, IOPS, throughput, utilization, and performance capacity across the fleet, systems, SVMs, volumes, and LUNs.
- Capacity

Used capacity, free capacity, capacity used percentage, and snapshot capacity across the fleet, systems, SVMs, volumes, LUNs, and local tiers.
- Health

Health status, degraded or critical object counts, failed disks, network interface errors, and hot objects.
- Alerts
-
Critical alert counts, alerts by severity, alerts by impact area, recent alerts, and alert trends over time.

Resource types
You can scope cards to any level of the ONTAP storage hierarchy: fleet, cluster, system (node), SVM, volume, LUN, and local tier (aggregate). The available resource types depend on the card template you select.
