Configure advanced settings in NetApp Backup and Recovery

Some advanced settings might be helpful in maintaining your backup and recovery environment. You can configure advanced settings to manage your inventory, delete backups, unregister resources, delete relationships, unprotect resources to stop service charges, set the max transfer rate for the SnapMirror relationship, export snapshot copies to an object store, enable automatic yearly snapshot deletion, enable maintenance mode, and update the Application Plugin.

Configure NetApp Backup and Recovery advanced settings in the following ways:

  • Delete backups.

  • Unregister backups, databases, instances, or application hosts.

  • Delete the relationships.

  • Unprotect databases, instances, application hosts, and work environments to stop service charges.

  • Set the max transfer rate for the SnapMirror relationship - manage the bandwidth usage, ensuring that SnapMirror operations don't interfere with other network activities.

  • Export snapshot copies to an object store to initialize backups in the cloud by moving older snapshot copies into the baseline backup copy.

  • Enable automatic yearly snapshot deletion

  • Enable maintenance mode so that updates or maintenance tasks can be performed.

  • Update the Application Plugin.

Delete backups

You can delete backups to free up space in your storage.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Delete backups.

  4. Select the backup that you want to delete.

  5. Select Delete.

Unregister backups, databases, instances, or application hosts

You can unregister backups, databases, instances, or application hosts to remove them from the inventory.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Unregister resources.

  4. Select the resource that you want to unregister.

  5. Select Unregister.

Delete relationships

You can delete relationships to remove them from the inventory.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Delete relationships.

  4. Select the relationship that you want to delete.

  5. Select Delete.

Unprotect databases, instances, application hosts, and work environments

You can unprotect databases, instances, application hosts, and work environments to stop service charges.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Unprotect resources.

Set the max transfer rate for the SnapMirror relationship

You can set the max transfer rate for the SnapMirror relationship to manage the bandwidth usage, ensuring that SnapMirror operations don't interfere with other network activities.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Set the max transfer rate for the SnapMirror relationship.

  4. Enter the max transfer rate.

  5. Select Save.

Export snapshot copies to an object store

You can export snapshot copies to an object store to initialize backups in the cloud by moving older snapshot copies into the baseline backup copy.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Export snapshot copies to an object store.

  4. Select the snapshot copy that you want to export.

  5. Select Export.

Enable automatic yearly snapshot deletion

You can enable automatic yearly snapshot deletion to delete snapshots that are older than a year.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Enable automatic yearly snapshot deletion.

  4. Select Enable.

Enable maintenance mode

You can enable maintenance mode so that updates or maintenance tasks can be performed.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Enable maintenance mode.

  4. Select Enable.

Update the Application Plugin

You can update the Application Plugin to ensure that the latest features are available.

  1. In the NetApp Backup and Recovery console, select Settings.

  2. Select Advanced settings.

  3. Select Update the Application Plugin.

  4. Select Update.
