Power on the hardware - EF50 and EF80

Contributors netapp-lisa

After you cable the inter-controller mirroring and host connections for your EF50 or EF80 storage system, you power on the controllers.

Before you begin

Take anti-static precautions.

Steps
  1. Plug a power cable into each controller power supply, and then connect them to power sources on different circuits.

Note If you are using third-party power distribution units (PDUs), do not use power outlets directly behind the controllers because you might block access to the controllers.

    • The system begins to boot. Initial booting might take up to eight minutes.

    • The LEDs on the system chassis flash and the fans start, which indicates that the controllers are powering on.

During start-up it is normal for the fans to be very loud.

    • The digital display on the front of the system chassis (behind the bezel) does not illuminate.

  2. Secure the power cords using the securing device on each power supply.

What's next?

After powering on your storage system, complete storage system setup.
