Review cabling and configuration requirements - Cisco Nexus 9364D-GX2A

Contributors netapp-lisa

If you are installing Cisco Nexus 9364D-GX2A switches as part of a new AFX 1K or AFX 2K system installation, replacing a switch, or resetting a switch to the factory defaults settings, you must review the following cabling and configuration requirements.

Hard-code the speed on breakout ports

You must hard-code the switch breakout (4x100GbE) ports for 100GbE. If you do not hard-code the speed, the ports will not come up and will be in an error-disabled state.

For example, to hard-code 100GbE on breakout ports 1-13, do the following in config mode. The example shows commands being applied to the first switch (cs1). You repeat these commands for the second switch.

(cs1)(config)# interface e1/1/1-4, e1/2/1-4, e1/3/1-4, e1/4/1-4, e1/5/1-4, e1/6/1-4, e1/7/1-4, e1/8/1-4, e1/9/1-4, e1/10/1-4, e1/11/1-4, e1/12/1-4, e1/13/1-4
(cs1)(config-if)# speed 100000
(cs1)(config-if)# no negotiate auto
(cs1)(config-if)# exit
(cs1)(config)# exit
(cs1)# copy running-config startup-config
What's next?

After you meet the cabling and configuration requirements, you install the NX-OS.
