Install the hardware - EF50 and EF80

Contributors netapp-lisa

After you prepare to install your EF50 or EF80 storage system, install the rack-mount hardware in a cabinet or telco rack, and then install and secure your storage system.

If your storage system came in a cabinet, you can skip this procedure and go to Cable the hardware.

Before you begin
  • Prepare a flat, static-free work area.

  • Obtain an ESD wristband and take anti-static precautions.

  • Make sure you have the installation instructions packaged with the rack-mount hardware. If not, see Rack-mount hardware.

  • Be aware of the lifting precautions associated with the weight of your storage system. See Understand the lifting precautions.

  • Understand that the airflow through the storage system enters from the front where the drives are installed and exhausts out the rear where the ports are located.

Steps
  1. Install the rack-mounting hardware for your storage system using the instructions included with the rack-mounting hardware.

Caution Install the rack-mounting hardware in the lowest available space in the cabinet or rack to prevent the storage system from toppling over when it is installed.
  2. Install and secure your storage system in the cabinet or telco rack:

    1. Position the storage system onto the rails and then supporting the storage system from the bottom, slide it into place.

    2. Secure the storage system to the cabinet or telco rack using the included mounting screws.

  3. Attach the bezel to the front of the storage system.

    1. Position the bezel in front of the storage system so that the holes at each end align with the fasteners on the storage system.

    2. Snap the bezel into place.

What's next?

After installing the hardware for your storage system, cable the hardware.
