Access ONTAP Select evaluation software

You can access the ONTAP Select evaluation software if you are a current customer of ONTAP Select and you have an active entitlement or a NetApp Partner and want to download a new Capacity Tiers evaluation license.

If you are neither of the above and would like to try ONTAP Select for an evaluation, you can follow these steps to request access to download the evaluation software.

About this task

  • This instruction is for NetApp sales, partners, and prospects engaged with NetApp.

  • ONTAP Select Capacity Tiers evaluation licenses are limited to 90 days from the day you install them.

    Note You cannot extend an evaluation license. At the end of the 90 days, the license no longer functions and you cannot access the associated data.

  • The evaluation software has all the information that you need to download the ONTAP Select Deploy administration utility and deploy a cluster.

Step 1: Register for an account

Complete the NetApp account registration, if needed, and request prospect access.

Steps

  1. Create a new account or sign out of an existing account.

    Create new account

    Register for an account on the NetApp Support site using your business email.

    Note Free email accounts such as gmail or yahoo are not acceptable.

    Make sure you are not signed in with the newly created account.

    Existing account

    If you already have an account, go to the NetApp Support site and make sure that you are not signed in.

  2. Create a non-technical support case to elevate access levels to "prospect."

    1. Select the CASES tab, then select Create non-technical cases

    2. Select User Registration Issue as the feedback category.

    3. Select Create case.

      Fill out all required information and in the comments section, write: "My business email address is <your-email-address>. I would like to get prospect access to download the ONTAP Select evaluation software."

      Include the name of your NetApp contact.

    4. Select Submit.

Step 2: Download ONTAP Select evaluation software

After your support case is reviewed and approved, NetApp support notifies you using the email address supplied.

Step

  1. Download the ONTAP Select evaluation software.

    The evaluation license file is located within the zip file.

  2. To comply with legal requirements, you need to open a support case before gaining access. This helps NetApp maintain the correct control and documentation while providing you with the production-ready software you need.

    Note NetApp provides the "production-ready" version of ONTAP Select, which is not an open-source or alternative version. Support is only available if you upgrade to a production license.
