SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere 6.2

Update the vCenter credentials configured in SCV

Contributors jani netapp-jani ronya

Use this task to update the vCenter logon credentials configured in SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere. SCV uses these credentials to access vCenter.
When the vCenter credential changes, update it in SCV so that vCenter remains registered with SCV.
For vVol backups, unregister ONTAP tools for VMware vSphere and then re-register ONTAP tools with the new password so that backups continue to work.

Before you begin

You must know the IP address and the log on credentials for the SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere management user interface. You must also note down the MFA token generated from the maintenance console.

  • The IP address was displayed when the SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere was deployed.

  • Use the log in credentials provided during the deployment of the SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere or as later modified.

  • Generate a 6-digit MFA token using the maintenance console System Configuration options.

Steps
  1. Log in to the SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere management user interface.

    Use the format https://<appliance-IP-address>:8080

  2. In the left navigation pane, select Configuration.

  3. On the Configuration page, in the vCenter section, select Edit.

  4. Enter the new password and then select Save.

Do not modify the port number.

After you finish

After you save the new credentials, verify that SCV is still connected to vCenter.

  • In the SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere management user interface, open Dashboard and verify that SCV is connected to vCenter and enabled.

  • In the vSphere Client, verify that the SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere menu is displayed and that the plug-in pages load.

  • Optional: Open a resource group or run an on-demand backup to verify that vCenter operations work.

If SCV is not connected after the credential change, restart the VMware vSphere client service.
If SCV is still not connected, go to Post-deployment required operations and issues for the SCV.
