Importing a VM to an ONTAP host

After you have exported a virtual machine (VM), you can import it to an ONTAP host.

The VM must have been exported from the non-ONTAP host.

  1. From the left pane, right-click the name of the ONTAP host to which you want to import the VM.

  2. Select Import virtual machine.

    The Import Virtual Machine window opens.

  3. Click Browse.

  4. Click the name of the host to which you exported the VM earlier, and then click Select Folder.

  5. Under Import Settings, select Copy the virtual machine [create a new unique ID].

  6. Click Import.

  7. Verify that the VM is imported successfully and delete the VM from the non-ONTAP host.

  8. Upgrade the configuration version from 5.0 to 8.0 specifically for Hyper-V 2016.

    1. From the right pane, right-click the name of the VM which you want to upgrade.

    2. Select Upgrade Configuration Version.

      The configuration version for the VM is upgraded to 8.0.

  9. Start the VM.
