Review the requirements for replacing a chassis in a FAS9500 system

Contributors netapp-jsnyder netapp-martyh dougthomp

To replace the chassis, you must remove the power supplies, fans, controller modules, I/O modules, DCPM modules, and USB LED module from the impaired chassis, remove the impaired chassis from the equipment rack or system cabinet, install the replacement chassis in its place, and then install the components into the replacement chassis.

Before you begin

All other components in the system must be functioning properly; if they aren't, contact technical support.

About this task
  • You can use this procedure with all versions of ONTAP supported by your system.

  • This procedure is disruptive. For a two-node cluster, you have a complete service outage and a partial outage in a multi-node cluster.
